Strategic Economic Needs and Security Exercise (SENSE)

The Strategic Economic Needs and Security Exercise (SENSE) focuses on coordinated decision-making in a post-conflict environment and provides real-time feedback on the consequences of decisions in a fictitious ethnically divided country. SENSE helps participants to team build, address the dilemmas of resource allocation, and prioritize decisions. SENSE is a computer-based simulation centered on coordinated decision-making in a post-conflict environment.

A total of 107 Kurdish leaders and intellectuals participated: 47 from Arbil and 60 from Sulaymania. This workshop is regarded as one of the most successful in promoting understanding and cooperation between various different government bodies and the private sector, and these local forces and international donors.

These workshops were conducted by the Iraq Institute for Economic Reform (IIER) and funded by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).
