NUTRITION PROGRAM
Nutrition Surveys: There have been scattered studies about the nutrition status of the Kurds. The ASK Nutrition Group, administered by Mr. Rafiqe Mohammed Salih of the University of Sulaymania, conducted several surveys in elementary schools in the Provinces of Sulaymania and Kirkuk. Weights, heights, and sizes of heads and chests of students were measured. Students were chosen randomly. The measurements were compared to international standards (provided by UN agencies) for boys and girls. The results show that even children who live in rich neighborhoods suffer from the lack of food and nutrition.
