TO ASK'S
MEDICAL SERVICES

Medical Services is a program designed to provide school children ages from 6 to 12 years old with dental and optical treatments. These services were divided to two regions:
       1. Dental and Optical Services in the City of Sulaymania
       2. Optical Service in Rural cities (Sharbashair, Halabja, Shorish, Smood)

Dental and Optical Services in the City of Sulaymania
ASK subcontracted four private clinics in Sulaymania to examine the children and provide them with the needed medical treatments. The services started in September 3, 1999 and continued until November 30, 1999. A total of 787 students were examined and provided with full treatments. Optical Service in Rural cities (Sharbashair, Halabja, Shorish, Smood)
ASK with a cooperation of a local NGO's Kurdistan Relief Association (KRA) started this service on October 23, 1999. ASK/KRA mobile teams visited the elementary schools in cities and towns around within the Province of Sulaymania and the Province of Kirkuk. The medical teams examined students in their schools. Students (and some times teachers) were transferred to ASK private clinics in Sulaymania to receive treatments. Over 15,000 students benefited from this service.
