A Free Market and Democratic System in Iraq: Assessment and Plan of Actions

The American Society for Kurds (ASK), in partnership with the Popular Aid Organization
(PAO), conducted an international conference and workshop under the title of A
Free Market and Democratic System in Iraq: Assessment and Plan of Actions.
More than 30 participants from political parties, private business, Non-Government
Organizations, media, government officials, and representatives of business associations
participated in the event. Lecturers from the United States and Iraqi Kurdistan
presented papers and conducted workshop sessions on the following topics:
Private Enterprise is a Human Right, Dr. Salah Aziz
Code of Ethics and Transparencies, Dr. Kenneth Gray
Business Principles and Rule of Law, Mr. Sherko Mustafa
Role of Media, Dr. Doris Gray
Role of NGOs, Mr. Suhaib Al-Barzanji
Role of Higher Education Institutions, Dr. Kenneth Gray

One of the important outcomes of the workshop was that the participants drafted a set of recommendations about the first three topics. ASK/PAO is planning to make the whole document available online as soon as it is completed.
