Welcome to ASK Human Rights

ASK-HR began in Fall of 1999 in Iraqi Kurdistan. ASK-HR aims to establish a foundation for increasing public awareness on human rights issues through the following steps:

(A) Translation of UN Documents on Human Rights to Kurdish and distributing them to the public;
(B) Organizing workshops and conferences on related topics;
(C) Training local organizations and human rights advocates on related topics; and
(D) Supporting activities conducted by the local organizations and human rights advocates.

Therefore, ASK-HR is not a monitoring organization. This project, and future Projects, are part of ASK's objectives of building, collecting, and disseminating knowledge. ASK-HR involves only on educational activities.

Advisory Committee: ASK-HR sought to have a committee with pluralism in their ideologies. The Committee will advise and cooperate with the ASK-HR administrator on its projects and activities. The chosen members for the term 2000-02 are:
   (1) Mr. Rizgar Abdullah, Lawyer and democracy advocate;
   (2) Ms. Bayan Issa Yousef, Lawyer;
   (3) Mr. Abu Baker Hama Siddiq, Lawer and Journalist;
   

ASK-HR supports local initiatives to promote human rights activities in the coming years.
